Tell us what it's doing
A machine that has stopped, one that is behaving oddly, or a quote from somebody else you want a second opinion on. We will tell you what is likely wrong, what it costs, and whether you actually need us at all.

Three things worth checking first

Is it urgent, or can it wait?A refrigerator or freezer that has stopped is genuinely urgent, because a full freezer holds about 48 hours unopened and a half-full one about 24. Keep it shut, consolidate the contents, and tell us when you call so we can pull the visit forward. Almost everything else can take a scheduled slot, and booking it that way is easier on everybody.
Say where in the cycle it fails. That is worth more than the model number. Fills and then sits there. Washes and will not drain. Runs but does not heat. Cold freezer, warm fridge. Each of those points at two or three components rather than at the whole appliance, and it frequently lets us tell you what to check yourself before we book anything.
Three calls we would rather answer free.Cloudy glassware, which on this water is detergent rather than the dishwasher. A countertop microwave, which is not worth a visit. And an ice maker with the bail arm parked up, which is not a fault at all. If yours is one of those, you will hear so on the phone rather than at the door.
When you do get in touch, the brand, the rough age and what it is actually doing is enough for a real answer. The model plate is usually inside the door frame, behind the kick panel, or on the back, and a photograph of it saves a good deal of time on the day.
We would rather give you a free answer than a paid visit
If it turns out to be the detergent, the duct or a parked bail arm rather than the replacement somebody has quoted you, we will say so and charge nothing for it. That is not generosity. It is how we would like you to remember us next time.
